The Key to Managing Employees

It takes persistence to encourage employees to follow the everyday routines and further persistence to stick to the systems established in your business.

In your opinion, which of the four qualities are the key to success in business?

1. Financial strength
2. Intelligence
3. Persistence
4. Flexibility

I believe persistence is the key.

It takes persistence to encourage employees to follow the everyday routines and persistence to stick to the systems established in your business.

I am talking about the simple routines and systems. These are the ordinary, everyday activities your employees know they should be doing but are slacking a bit.

If you have told an employee 5 times, for example, that it is important to ask a new customer how they heard about your business, and still they are not asking 100% of the time, it can be very frustrating.

Guess what? It actually can take 51 times for the employee to get it! Hopefully sooner, but as the leader, you need to be persistent.

It’s not fun and you shouldn’t have to do it, but do it anyway. Persistence is following through when you really feel like quitting. It is easier to just give up, but don’t give up – stick to it – you are three feet from gold – keep digging.

But if after telling them 52 times, and they still don’t listen – FIRE THEM.

This will significantly reduce the number of times you will need to remind the remaining employees!
