It’s Not Google Calling Your Business

Quite simply, Google does not call businesses.

Many companies that have claimed their business listing are harassed daily by phone calls from people asserting themselves as either a Google representative or a Google partner. While not all these calls are fraudulent in nature, they are tiresome!

They may offer to run Google Adwords campaigns, which may or may not be legitimate. They may say your Google Business Listing is about to expire and demand payment, which is fraudulent.

Google listings are free for businesses.

What to do about these calls? Hang up. You can ask that they not call again, “press 7 to be removed from their list”, or try to block the number, but very likely your business will be targeted again regardless. Receiving these calls is just an unfortunate part of having a business listed on Google, and really a small price to pay if your business is utilizing all of Google’s free features.

How robust is your Google Business listing? Here’s a great example.
