About Paul Foster, C.A.
CEO and Founder, The Business Therapist®
Paul Foster, C.A. is the Founder and CEO of The Business Therapist®, an online resource, coach and advisor for personal and business growth. Using first-hand client knowledge from almost 30 years of experience, Paul Foster provides tools and resources for small business owners, business coaching, and entrepreneur mentoring.
In 2010, Paul was recognized by his peers as the RANONE North American Advisor of the Year. As a member of RANONE he has access to their world-class software and resources and a network of proactive advisors to business owners across the globe.
Paul started his own accounting practice in 1992. His experience with small business clients, understanding their needs and frustrations, shaped his philosophy toward helping people achieve success – including balancing life and work to achieve happiness.
On a momentous day – December 31, 2000 – Paul took the leap to change his business model. He evaluated his strategy, changed his direction, and focused on giving more value to his best business customers. Today his advisory practice via The Business Therapist® provides holistic business evaluation and one-stop shopping for solutions to business issues.
A lifelong resident of Essex, Ontario, Canada, Paul Foster graduated with honors from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Mathematics in 1986. In 1987 he obtained his chartered accountant designation (C.A., US equivalent C.P.A.).
Paul is active in economic development in his region. He was a founding director of the Shores of Essex Resource Corporation, and has served as Director and Treasurer of Story Book Early Learning Centre for over 20 years. He is currently chairperson for the Essex Community Futures Development Corporation, a federally funded resource and loan pool for small businesses in Essex County.
In September of 2011 Paul was awarded the position, ‘Entrepreneur-in-Residence’ at the Odette School of Business and the Centre for Enterprise and Law at the University of Windsor. In September of 2012, Paul was asked to continue as Entrepreneur-in-Residence, where he mentors University of Windsor Law and Odette Business students, sharing his professional and entrepreneurial expertise.
Jenifer is Partner at The Business Therapist®. She is a graduate of Parsons School of Design and has been freelancing in interior design for the last 25 years. Jen comes from an entrepreneurial family, contributing her talents while focusing on raising her three wonderful children. She’s naturally visual and a right-brained thinker. She creates intellectually stimulating interactions by challenging traditional assumptions.
Jen believes in abundance versus scarcity and enjoys living in the moment with appreciation. She is a respectful conserver of the great outdoors.
Rich Thornton, Director of Research and New Product Development
Rich is the Director of Research and New Product Development and full time business coach at The Business Therapist®. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Accounting and Financial Management in 2007, and a Master of Accounting in 2008, also from Waterloo. In 2010, Rich obtained his Chartered Accountant designation (C.A., U.S. equivalent C.P.A.).
Born and raised in Cottam, Ontario, Rich has lived in Toronto, Ontario, and Melbourne, Australia over the past few years. These experiences have helped him develop an appreciation of social and economic diversity. He brings an outside-the-box approach to problem solving to The Business Therapist®, and takes pride in helping others.
Rich is an avid fan of sports, reading, and video games, and can often be found hacking around on a golf course, or glued to a TV on NFL Sundays.
Liz Grady, Director of Digital Communications
As Director of Digital Communications for The Business Therapist®, Liz is a social media strategist, professional lurker, and website traffic controller. She holds a degree in history from the University of Windsor. Liz has a background of more than 10 years in sales and marketing as a residential real estate agent.
When she’s not researching best practices in social media marketing, Liz helps her community by volunteering for local fundraising and charity events.
She is very happily married with two fur kids. Liz is an NFL fan (go Browns!), a golf junkie and beer enthusiast.
